2001 Easter Bonnet Parade

2001 Easter Bonnet Parade

The annual Melrose St. Patrick’s Easter Bonnet Parade was held in the Social Hall following Easter Mass and was again a sight to behold.  The ladies were treated to a long stem flower and the lassies in the parade were given a gift of pink candy bunnies. Beautiful & colorful hats of all kinds paraded & the various judges unanimously agreed ALL bonnets were WINNERS, thus the grand prizes had to be drawn from a hat.

A VERY SPECIAL TREAT this year was provided by JOAN BRUBAKER, who displayed her collection of hats, gloves, and jewelry.  Joan shared special stories on the history of some of these hats. Folks thoroughly enjoyed this unique collection & appreciate Joan sharing this with St. Patrick’s on Easter morning

The annual Easter Egg Hunt was held on the sunny green slopes of St. Patrick’s for the children and the bounty was plentiful.

Mass, hot coffee, warm conversation, rolls, fellowship,  an Easter Bonnet Parade & Easter Egg Hunt is  indeed a WONDERFUL beginning for an Easter Day-- and another example of the joys of life in small town Iowa.

We are thankful for our rich Blessings and invite you to “put on your Easter Bonnet with all of the frills upon it” next Easter & join us.  You’ll be glad you did….and so will we!  GOD BLESS
